With the closure of major regional refining facilities, California’s fuel supply landscape is changing. Western Gateway is designed to improve supply optionality by connecting California with refined products from Texas and the Midcontinent. This additional pathway would strengthen fuel supply resiliency, reduce vulnerability to disruptions and support more reliable access to transportation fuels over time.
Biodiversity
We recognize that the preservation of biodiversity is an absolute priority under the Endangered Species Act. While the Western Gateway Pipeline utilizes an existing pipeline that will be reversed within California to completely eliminate new land disturbance, our pre-permitting process involves extensive environmental surveys. We are actively integrating independent wildlife biologists and ecological consultants directly into our routing evaluations to study regional ecosystems, map sensitive habitats, and verify that our project protects critical regional species and respects historical wildlife ranges.
Community INvestments
True environmental justice means taking active responsibility to ensure a project does not add to that burden. Because our project utilizes existing, buried infrastructure, it introduces zero localized refinery emissions or new above-ground industrial footprints to Colton. Furthermore, we are committed to transparent, early dialogue with community leaders to establish the lines of communication and develop programs such as localized grants and educational STEM investments that directly support community health, air quality monitoring, and underserved youth in the neighborhoods adjacent to our logistics corridors.
