California

California’s fuel market is under strain with refineries ceasing operations, oil production declining, and new refinery construction unlikely to be achieved. The Western Gateway Pipeline will help alleviate these energy challenges and protect California consumers by ensuring more in-state production is available in California, and out of state domestic production has access to California.  California stands to gain significantly from the Western Gateway Pipeline project. By redirecting approximately 125,000 barrels per day of refined products that Phoenix currently receives from California, the Western Gateway Pipeline will enable those volumes to remain in-state—boosting supply availability for California markets. The system will deliver up to 200,000 barrels per day of Midcontinent refined products into Arizona, freeing up California-sourced fuel to meet growing local demand. This shift strengthens California’s fuel supply security, supports regional growth, and helps reduce price volatility for consumers.
